The RAF went into the war with the MkIX Course Setting Bomb Site (CSBS). Jim Brookbank, a bomb-aimer with No,9 squadron, 5Group, describes this as “a Heath Robinson lash-up with a graticule sight that you laid on the target and dropped the bombs when the time seemed right. It took a lot of practice, but it could be done”
