On 14 October 1943, two months after the Schweinfurt-Regensburg mission, the Might Eighth flew to Schweinfurt again - and again 60 bombers were shot down. These losses achieved nothing, clouds and smoke blinded the bombadiers, and very few bombs hit the target; attempting precision bombing in these conditions simple did not work.
