"I volunteered and joined a course with 22 other aspirants in January 1938. It is sobering to consider that by the end of 1941 I was the only member of that course left alive"

About Target For Today

Target 4 Today is a community driven project designed to initially run using the Targetware game engine developed by Mark Nine Systems.

It is in the very early stages of development, and the goal is to produce a realistic bomber simulation that encompasses some of the skills used by a bomber crew during an operation; Piloting, Navigating, Bomb-aiming, Flight Engineer, Turret Gunning and Radio Operating.

Our first models released are from the Avro Manchester/Lancaster family for initial flight model and general feedback. They're not finished but they are at a level where we can release them for comment whilst moving on to the next series of planes the Ju88 and B24 and incorporating the comments into these planes returning later to "upgrade" the previous series.

The Terrain used covers the area of European bomber operations from the Baltic through central Germany down to central France.

We are always on the lookout for interested individuals who have either 3D or 2D skills which can be utilised to further the cause. Current 3D formats supported by the Targetware engine include Lightwave, AC3D, 3DMax, Wings 3D.  Some success has also been reported with other 3D applications. The 2D formats are simply tga so any program such as Paintshop, Photoshop or any other 2D drawing package is all you need.

The team members give there time freely with no desire other than to see it grow with more aircraft and targets being added as time permits. No one will hold you to any deadlines, and any contributions are always gratefully received.  If you feel you have any of the skills needed please do not hesitate to contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with a brief note detailing your area of interest. There is unfortunately no financial gain and other than granting Target 4 Today non-exclusive rights to use your work anything you produce remains your property and can still be used for any other purpose you desire.

The next revision of the Targetware game engine will bring considerable improvements to the overall experience and will utilise lua to control the game parameters and flow. This will bring the game engine completely up to date.

And we need people prepared to contribute to the content of the web site... it's not like I'm an expert in everything !
